Turn the Corner held its third annual fundraising gala, Unmask A Cure, on November 13, 2008 at Gotham Hall in New York City. Guests enjoyed a great night of cocktails, a dinner reception, silent and live auctions and a sweepstakes. On this special evening, the Foundation honored Bernard D. Raxlen, MD, a Lyme-literate physician, and Andy Abraham Wilson, Producer/Director of Under Our Skin. Event chairpersons were Karen Kissling, Kris Newby, Steven C. Rodger, Leo J. Shea III, Ph.D. and Alyssa Sokoloff. Courage Awards were presented to Alicia Brawn; Cydney Chase; Kathy Fowler; Michele Matthews; Jordan Fisher Smith; Sheila Statlander, Ph.D.; and Lindsay Zweibel. Award-winning comedy writer Alan Zweibel was a special guest at the gala and live music was provided by the Subscribers. Sponsors of the evening included the Damon Giglio Foundation, Newmark Knight Frank, Open Eye Pictures, Citi Smith Barney, Goldman Sachs, David & Cindy Reichenbaum, The Spar Family, Marion & Carl Wolf, Patrick & Christine Beach, Marquis Jet, Francis R. Makers of Memories Foundation held its second annual fundraising event, Creating Memories For A Lifetime, at the Prince George Ballroom in New York City from 6:00 to 10:00 PM. The event raised funds to provide victims of domestic violence an opportunity to enjoy their first family vacation, so they can form memories that will change their lives forever. The evening included fine food, wines, champagne and spirits and the first-ever screening of the Makers of Memories short film. During a special awards presentation, MOM was proud to honor Carolyn Fish, the Executive Director of Rockland Family Shelter, Inc., with the Power of Hope Award in recognition of her courageous perseverance in her commitment towards helping victims of domestic violence.

Melanoma Research Foundation's held its seventh annual fundraising gala, Wings of Hope for Melanoma, at Cipriani 23rd Street in New York City from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM. The evening included sampling tables from a variety of elite restaurants and spirit companies, silent auction and sweepstakes.

Bulldogs Care Foundation held its second annual fundraising event, Tip Off To Success, at the Altman Building in New York City from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM. The evening included fine cocktails and cuisine, a live band, silent and live auctions and a sweepstakes. BCF honored several outstanding individuals at the event. Thomas Beckett, the Director of Athletics at Yale University, received the Leadership in Athletics Award, the Grass Family received the Pillar of Strength Award and four student-athletes from New Heights Summer Academy received recognition for their summer accomplishments.
BCF is proud to announce that, for the second year, funds from the event will support a Student-Athlete Summer Academy in 2009.

Voices Against Brain Cancer and the New York Mets were proud to present Brain Cancer Awareness Day, which was held at Shea Stadium in Queens, NY from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM. The event included a private reception in the picnic area and admission to the New York Mets game against the Chicago Cubs.

Sarcoma Foundation of America's annual educational conference, New Frontiers in Sarcoma, was held at the New York Marriott Eastside from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. This informative conference about the latest advances in Sarcoma research and treatment

David R. D’Adamo, MD, PhD;
George Demetri, MD;
Jonathan A. Fletcher, MD; and Paul A. Meyers, MD. The speakers participated in a question-and-answer session and all attendees received a take-home manual that covered all topics from the conference.

Melanoma Research Foundation's seventh annual Don Aronow Golf Outing and Reception will be held at the Fresh Meadow Country Club in Great Neck, NY. Brunch will start at 10:00 AM, the golf outing will be held from 11:30 AM to 4:30 PM and the cocktail reception will be held 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM.
