Sacha Lehto

Director of Development

Sacha Lehto brings international experience and a wealth of knowledge from her 12 year Events and Fundraising career in Vancouver, B.C.  There, she managed various events including one of the highest grossing fundraising Galas in Canada, the BC Cancer Foundation’s Inspiration Gala.  The 10th anniversary event raised over $5 million for the Personalized Onco-Genomics Program, making it the largest fundraising Gala in Canadian history at that time.

During her tenures at BC Cancer Foundation and the Vancouver General Hospital Foundation, she managed cultivation, stewardship and recognition events, mass-participation athletic events, golf tournaments, fashion show fundraisers and Galas. Under her direction, the BC Cancer Foundation’s Signature Events portfolio garnered revenues of approximately $5 million annually. Sacha also has extensive fundraising experience working with Major Donors, including that of a $1 million matching gift.

At these distinguished charities, Sacha developed fundraising strategies for the many event formats, built relationships with key stakeholders which led to further gifts, executed logistics, secured cash and in kind sponsorship as well as executed sponsor  activations.

Sacha’s expertise, talents and skill-set have resulted in recognition nationally and internationally. One of the highest recognitions internationally was being nominated for Event Planner of the Year at the 2016 Catersource Spotlight Awards in Las Vegas.  Sacha was the only Canadian selected out of 5 nominees, amongst three Americans and one South African. Her events have been recognized by both BizBash based in New York and the Canadian Special Events Awards in Toronto.

Sacha was on the Board of Directors for International Live Events Association (ILEA) Vancouver Chapter, and now sits on the Sponsorship and Strategic Partners Committee for ILEA New York Metro Chapter.  Sacha has also been a speaker at an Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) session on “Gala Do’s and Don’ts.”

Sacha’s degree in Fashion Design lends its creativity to her events – from conceptualizing the initial creative design to selecting venues and ultimately ensuring every detail works cohesively and harmoniously.
